Avanti - Sumatra Bold

Bold flavored, but without bitter. This coffee grows in the region of Aceh at the northern tip of Sumatra, Indonesia, at an altitude of 4200-5200 feet above sea level. Also called, Mandheling, this is one of the most prized coffees in the world. Coffee was originally brought to Indonesia by Dutch colonists in the 19th century.

Before roasting, this coffee has a bright blue-green color which is characteristic of the wet-hull process used in Sumatra. After roasting, this bean is a beautiful dark brown with an aroma that is "sweet" smelling.

This large Arabica bean has one of the most complex flavors and the aroma of this coffee after brewing is often referred to as spicy or herbal.
